It is a nice restaurant selling one of the best "char siew" (one type of sweet roast pork), to me the best you can find in Malaysia. It is located in Sri Muda Shah Alam (location see last paragraph)
So whats so nice about this Char Siew? The secret is it's selection of the pork and the way it is prepared. To me, a good Char Siew needs to be of a mix of fatty-lean meat part, and cooks to a bit "sticky" and a bit burnt perfection. And this shop's Char Siew just meet all those criteria. In fact, there has been a lot of reviews from newspapers and food review shows locally on this shop.

Their To die for Char Siew

My wife's order - Roast chicken & Char Siew with rice

My order - Char Siew with Noodle

This shop is open everyday, from 11a.m onwards. Business is extremely good during lunch time, even on weekends. So, the char siew is normally sold out by 1p.m . To avoid disappointment, do come early.

The shop interior - The guy in White is the BOSS

Whats good here? The Char Siew is a must try. Their roast chicken and roast pork are not bad too. You can either eat these with rice or noodles.Price wise, it is a bit on the high side (compare to other Char Siew stall). A meal for two can easily comes up to RM15 - 20. But i assure you it is worth it, especially for their succulent Char Siew.

Another view of their yummy char siew

Their roast pork - Not bad as well but not THE best in town

How to get there? If you are coming from USJ direction heading towards Kota Kemuning on KESAS highway, exit at HICOM exit. At the traffic light, go straight and keep left to go onto the trunk road. At the next traffic light, turn right and you will see Sri Muda area with a lot of shophouses on your right. Take the first right turn after the traffic light and go straight. Restoran Spring Golden is on your right, at a corner shop.

Overall Verdict:

Super nice Char Siew, not bad roast chicken and roast pork. Fast service. But price a bit on the high side.

Yummy Roast Duck at Sunrise

This is one of my favourite roast duck place within Malaysia (the other one being Beijing's Peking Duck, China). It is located in Taman Bahagia and has been around for a long time. Ask PJ folks about Sunrise Duck and chances are most, if not all will know about them. Business here is very good. They open at 11A.M daily, and normally, by 1-2 PM all ducks are finished! This is true even for weekends and weekdays.

Restaurant Sunrise's Duck

The duck is roasted to such perfection that it is so yummy not to resist. It is called Thai Thai and is located inside Sunway Pyramid, new wing, first floor

Restaurant Thai Thai, Sunway Pyramid New Wing

The restaurant's interior

They have a nice and cosy eating environment

Food here is quite authentic, as i have frequent Thailand a lot last time. Their tomyam (RM11/ head) is very close to real deal in Bangkok and of "clear soup" northern Thailand style. Another nice thing i like is their coconut ice blended (RM12), nicely blend and fragrant coconut, couple with coconut flesh inside this super soothing drink, a must during a hot afternoon.

Their must try Coconut Ice Blended

Other noteworthy ala carte orders include their basil leave chicken with rice (RM15), pineapple fried rice (RM15). Service here is fast and food portion is not too big, just nice. Environment here is very nice and cosy.

<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JyjCsA4jhZs/TKLuc0ZYjyI/AAAAAAAAAbc/csUg9mwZLts/s320/IMG_3018.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; Then head down to Organic Fresh Mart located at SS18. This is no ordinary vegetarian food in that it does not serve you the "Taiwanese" style vegetarian food (those with vegetarian mutton curry, vegetarian roast pork, etc. which personally i think it is unhealthy and oily), or the Indian style vegetarian. The vegetarian food menu here is quite interesting and all food here are prepared using their own organic vegetables, which are very fresh and crisp. They also have a mini mart selling all their organic produce at a very reasonable price compare to some other outlets in Klang Valley.
Among the noteworthy must try in this restaurant is their Basil Leave fried rice, and their Vegetarian Bah Kut Teh.

Organic Fresh Mart Restaurant

They have a mart to sell their organic produce too

The Basil Leave Fried Rice (RM9 if not mistaken) has a very nice basil fragrance and it's not oily at all. Portion is just right for a guy, but maybe a bit too large for typical Malaysian Ladies.
The Vegetarian Bah Kut Teh (RM10 if not mistaken), on the other hand, taste just like normal Bah Kut Teh (interesting as no pork is used in the preparation of this dish), and in fact, to me, better than some of the bah kut teh stalls in Klang Valley. The herbs used created the same bah kut teh aroma in this special concortion, and it is laden with fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and other Chinese herbs. Very yummy.
Service here is fast and efficient, and the ambience is nice, quiet, and air conditioned.

Their Basil Leave Fried rice - Yummy

The "Greedy" meal i ordered - Fried Rice + Bah Kut Teh

How to get there? If you are coming from Sunway direction, take 12 o'clock at the persiaran roundabout and go straight all the way until you reach SS18 area. (Unlike the conventional dark soup base) Then look no further, head down to Restoran Yi Xin at Kelana Jaya to try it out yourself.

The bah kut teh is served in bowls, not in claypot, but when it is presented to us, it is piping hot (so no worries of cold soup). The best part of this bah kut teh is the soup. The soup base is white/transparent but yet the aroma and taste of bah kut teh, especially the herbs are all there, making it very yummy, and not that oily. Besides bah kut teh, there is also vegetables, side dishes like pork trotters in vinegar, preserved vegetables ("mui choi"), and many others to complement the bah kut teh.

The white color bah kut teh soup base. Business here is very good and it is a well established setup in this area for many years already, so there are many regular and loyal patrons.

Price wise, it is a bit on the high side but not too much. We ordered a bah kut teh (for 3 person), a plate of vegetable, a side dish, a bowl of yao char kuay, a pot of chrysanthemum tea, extra mushrooms, and 3 bowl of rice and the bill came up to RM54.

How to get there? If you are travelling on LDP heading towards Puchong direction (U turn at taman Megah exit if you are coming from Puchong/sunway direction), slow down when you pass the Kelana Jaya LRT station, and turn left at the first left turn available to you after you pass the LRT station. There is a row of shop houses and Restoran Yi Xin is in the middle lot of this shop row.

This restaurant is open everyday from 10AM onwards.

Overall verdict:

Different type of soup base compare to conventional bah kut teh. (Ratings below are strictly personal. Taste may differ from individual to individual)

To me, a perfect bowl of dry chilli pan mee needs to score in all the following departments (Min 1 , Max 5):

The noodle - Texture must be just nice, not too thick, not too thin, and taste smooth and feels solid, not hollow.

Poached egg - Must not be "hard boiled egg". The yolk must be watery, but not too watery as well. Kin Kin has the best among the 3 for poached egg. Also, consistency must be taken into considerations.

Anchovies - A very important ingredient. Must be crispy and super fragrant. Must not be hard and non crispy.

Topping - Misc toppings other than anchovies that makes the pan mee overall blends well and taste good with the chilli.

Chili Flakes - The MOST important ingredient for Chili pan mee. Must not be too oily, or too dry. Must packs the oomph, and must not taste too salty.

Overall Look - The dry chilli pan mee, no matter how tasty, must be presentable and looks appetizing when it is served in front of you.

Aroma / Taste - After blending all the ingredients in, it must taste and smells good. But this is more subject to individual taste buds.

Soup - Ideally should come together with the noodle. Also, it should be made fresh and hot. The soup, a lot of people are not aware, is also suppose to "cool down" the spiciness of the chili.

Eating environment - A few factors to consider here, stuffy/cooling ? Hygiene of the stall and food preparation, service of the restaurant, attitude of the owner.

Overall, the scores are as per below (personal ratings)

Since the nearest to my office is the SS2/Taman Bahagia branch (Chow Yang), i chose to drop by there to complete my "mini pan mee tour" for this week. (3 different shops in a week)

Being a staunch Kin Kin Pan Mee supporter, and the fact that Super Kitchen was labelled as "Kin Kin copycat" as their HQ is just exactly opposite Kin Kin's shop in KL, it is hard not to overcome the mental "prejudice" and be open about the food. I can only reassure myself that this shop has survived, opened so many branches (even more branches than Kin Kin) and has his own loyal supporters ... so the food has to be some what acceptable, if not good.

The environment is acceptable

The shop in Taman Bahagia is actually not hard to find. For local PJ folks and food lovers, i am sure you are familiar with Chow Yang (a restaurant's name). Super Kitchen is located behind Chow Yang, 3-4 shops away from Kayu Nasi Kandar shop.
The environment is acceptable, looks clean, but there are flies flying around. Service is fast and no fuss (definitely better than Kin Kin at their peak hours). Now, the food...

Their version of dry chilli pan mee

To my surprise, the dry chilli pan mee (RM5.50 / bowl) does not taste bad at all! And the chilli flakes is as oomph as Kin Kin's, definitely much better than Face To Face's chilli. But overall, somehow, it still does not taste as nice as Kin Kin's , but for sure comparable to Face To Face's version. Maybe it's the noodle texture, or Kin Kin has some mysterious "hidden" recipe. Or maybe it's just me ....but for sure, it is above standard.
Another thing worth mentioning is their vegetable soup that comes with each bowl of noodle. Unlike Kin Kin's, each bowl of soup is individually prepared and served together with the noodle, hence it is piping hot and fresh. (Kin Kin's soup most of the time are delayed, and they are "mass produced" meaning it is not as hot when it comes to you). Also, their soup portion is bigger than Kin Kin and Face to Face ....:)

The chiili flakes - they are actually quite spicy

The noodle after putting in the chilli

Perfect blend - Ready to be eaten : YUMMY

The piping hot soup

I ended up eating 2 bowls of them to satisfy my hunger. Will i come back to this shop? For sure, on days that i am lazy to brave the jams and traffic to go down KL. So now, i have Face to Face and Super Kitchen as my "lazy alternatives" when it comes to Pan Mee. Which one better between Face to Face and Super Kitchen, IMHO, Super Kitchen fares slightly better on my taste bud and personal ratings.

Overall Verdict:

Not bad overall, good service, acceptable eating condition, nice bowl of vegetable soup.

Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee

As promised before, my personal favourite of all time when it comes to dry chilli pan mee is none other than Kin Kin Pan Mee shop. This shop has a long history dating back some 30 years ago. Now the owner has passed down the baton to his 2 sons, and they have 2 branches now, the original one in KL, and one more in Pandan Indah, Cheras area.

The famous food here is their Dry type chilli pan mee (unknown to most patrons, this shop sell the soupy pan mee and also yong tau foo, so it is not just dry chilli pan mee). Depends on your appetite, normally a guy can finish off 2 bowl easily (RM5.50 per bowl). What is it that makes it taste so good? To me, i think it is everything, from the noodle, the perfectly poached egg, the anchovies, and the to die for chilly flakes. When all these normal items are perfectly blend in, the wonderful taste of the chilli pan mee kicks in! (a word of caution, compare to many other pan mee outles, the chilli here are more on the oomph side, so apply them sparingly)

Business here is always good, especially during lunch time in weekdays, and 10AM onwards on weekends. So, if you come here at their "peak" hours ...make sure you bring along magazines/newpaper to kill your waiting time. During good business time, the owners can be quite bad tempered and easily agitated. So, if you do want to eat their famous noodles, make sure :
1) Be patient and wait for your noodle to be served, do not push the owner for quicker service
2) Be prepared to sit with others, i.e joint tables.

The famous Kin Kin Dry Chilli Pan Mee

The soup that complements really well with the chilly pan mee

The noodle after blending them all.

How to get there? It is off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. If you come from Jalan Sultan Ismail heading towards Hard Rock direction, turn left at the Maju Junction Mall traffic light. Go till the end and turn/curve right. At the next traffic light, turn right. Go till you see the Pizza Hut, and turn left there. Immediately turn right again and you should see Kin Kin on the left, near the end of the road. Lost? It is nearby Honda showroom and Air Asia Hotel (Tune Hotel)

Overall Verdict:

My personal favourite when it comes to Dry Chilli Pan Mee. Almost every weekend i will still drive down all the way from Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam to have them in KL. Worth a try yourself, but individual tastes may vary. Also, if you are those that don't like bad tempered/lousy service owner, do not try them.
Highly recommended.

Dry Chilli Pan Mee @ Face to Face, Puchong

I am a self confess dry chilli pan mee lover as i am a chilli eating maniac. And when it comes to this dish, my personal numero uno is still Kin Kin Pan Mee shop in KL, off Jalan TAR. (which i will blog about seperately). However, ever since i stay put in Kota Kemuning, travelling to KL can be quite troublesome and jam packed. So i need to search for alternative, at least a close number two in my personal ranking.

When my wife introduced this shop to me, i am a little skeptical at first. Face to Face ? Never heard before. But after trying out their pan mee, i am well satisfied to park them under my number two ranking for the chilli pan mee.

This shop has many branches and is run under Face to Face franchise. But, QC are quite good in the sense that the same noodle taste the same in many of these branches ( i have tried the Puchong, Damansara Uptown, and also PJ Old town ones so far)

Besides chilli pan mee, this shop has many version of pan mee, wanton mee, as well as Sarawak Kampar Mee. (all are nice and tasty) For this blog, i shall stick to their dry chilli pan mee. The noodle is nice, not too wet/moist. The egg is my favourite "Explosive" type haha. And their chilli is ok ,and not too hot. (though Kin Kin one is still way better and pack much more oomph)

The dry chilli pan mee at Face to Face

Their version of dry chilli flakes (not as oomph as Kin Kin's)

The pan mee after putting in the chilli flakes

After it is well blended with all the ingredients ...yum yum

Besides their noodles, they have some nice snacks as well, among the noteworthy one is their golden fried wanton. For this Puchong branch, it is in Bandar Puteri, same side with Giant. The shop is same row with Maybank nearby Giant in Bandar Puteri. It is open daily until 9:30PM.

Some of my friends was saying the BEST pan mee these days is the Super Kitchen Pan mee (the one that started as a "copycat" opposite Kin Kin in KL) Will give it a try really soon and review it. Stay Tuned.

Overall Verdict:
Clean and air-conditioned environment, fast and efficient service, nice variety of noodle dishes, noteworthy snacks and drinks, and acceptable dry chilli pan mee (IMO).

I want iPhone 4!

While i was still working in China, i had the privilege of playing with my secretary's brand new iPhone 4 her beloved husband bought for her ......After taking it in my palm, i immediately fell head over heals for it .....It is so sleek, nice and professional looking. Putting it side by side with my faithful iPhone 3G makes my iPhone 3G looks like a age old dinasour .....

And drop calls i.e antennagate issue you were saying on iPhone 4? All i can say is in the 2 weeks i observe my secretary using her new iPhone 4 there is not a single drop calls and signal is almost always at full bar! (hers is a HK set brought in to China)

Conclusion? I love it so much that i tried to put my iPhone 3G into her phone pouch ....but the plan failed. I WANT an iPhone 4!!!

Enough whining ...here's some photo......For those interested, forget about Maxis/Digi deal. iPhone 4 in Malaysia will be bound by plans and package with 1-2 year contract. Get it from Singapore, free of any contract, just get it, pay and go (if you are travelling by plane to Singapore, can claim VATs at airport some more) For your info, the singapore iPhone 4 works for Malaysia's Digi, Celcom, Maxis. But you need to get the new MicroSIM card from your telcos. (no software jailbreaking required, like previous iPhone models) Singapore is the second cheapest place to get iPhone 4 in Asia, after Hong Kong.

Breakfast @ Makan Makan

Staying in Kota Kemuning has its many bliss, one of them being away from traffic and noises and the other being surrounded with lots of nice food outlet. One of them is my personal favourite for breakie, which is none other than the already famous Makan Makan. (yes the title of the shop which loosely translated into eat-eat in English)

So whats good for makan at Makan Makan :P ? Almost everything. This shop is famous enough to get the attention of our local food review channel, Ho Jiak's review and not to mention countless newspaper highlights.

Those highly recommended ones are marked with a "eat" logo in Mandarin. So far they had not been disappointing. Among my personal favourite are their morning breakfast nasi lemak bungkus, loh mai fan, fried chicken, and also many of theirs nyonya kuihs! As for drink, my personal preference is their kopi kluang or their cham ice.

Business here is good especially during breakfast time and lunch time. but services here are generally good and you need not wait too long. If you crave for their kuihs or the nasi lemak bungkus, make sure arrive early during breakfast to avoid disappointment.

Where is it located in Kota Kemuning? It is very easy to find. When you are traveling from USJ to Kota Kemuning using the KESAS highway, exit at the first Kota Kemuning exit, take the 3 o'clock turn at the first roundabout. Turn right at the second turning (Mc Donald is first turning, second turning is the one at NTS food court), immediately after turning right at NTS turning, turn right again at the first available right turn, cruise along slowly, Makan Makan is on the first row of shop to your left, towards the end.
What is their business hours?

OVERALL verdict :

Clean environment. It is in the third ring road, east, nearby Kempinski Hotel.

Final Verdict:

Kedai Kopi Hai Peng (Kemaman)

For those who travels to the East Coast, this place is a must have for a cuppa of nicely brew coffee, and many of their nicely baked, slightly burnt toast.

There are many kopitiams these days mushrooming in Malaysia, but rest assured Hai Peng coffee shop still maintain the oomph and originality (the shop has been around for many many years, 3 generations alreadfy)

So, what to look for when you are there?

Among the noteworthy items to order:

Packets of mee siam (Fantastic)

Vietnamese style coffee (Kao Kao)

Roti bakar (normal)

Roti bakar peanut butter with pisang (yummy)

The coffeeshop is located in the middle of Kemaman town, if you are coming from Kuantan direction, it is immediately after The Store shopping mall. (There is also branches now in Kuantan, but personally this original Kemaman one is still THE ONE)
The shop is closed on Friday.

Final Verdict :

Back with a vengence

Hello all ...

After neglecting this blog for almost 2 years due to my posting to work in China and China cannot access Blogspot (can you believe it? also there is a ban on facebook, youtube, etc.) So, lotsa materials i have accumulated on food, gadgets, which i will slowly share from now onwards .......

So, enjoy the posting and do help promote this site!

Cheers.
Just another Wai Sik Chai in Boleh Land

Durian from Penang Yum Yum

A selection of branded durians in a plantation in Balik Pulau, the durian centre of Penang Durians of Balik PulauIn Penang, Malaysia, the best place to get good durians is in the town of Balik Pulau, on the southwest corner of Penang Island. Balik Pulau is a 30 minute drive over the main range and has a lot of durian estates.
The following is a selection of branded durians

D11 "Number Eleven" is a very popular durian in the 70's. It has creamy yellow flesh with a pleasant taste and a subtle smell.

D604 The D604 was first cultivated by the late Mr. Teh Hew Hong of Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau. The flesh is quite sweet, and has some "body" to it as the seed is small.

D600 This durian originates in Sungai Pinang in Balik Pulau. The flesh has a bittersweet taste to it, with a touch of sourness.

D700The flesh is darker than D600, like chrome yellow. Also slightly hard. Crispy, but the smell is not very strong.

Ang Sim (Red Heart) Ang Sim is a durian with flesh which is quite soft and very sweet, and dark yellow in colour. It also has a nice aroma.

Khun Poh This durian takes the name of the late Mr Lau Khun Poh, who first budded it. Khun Poh has beautiful orangy flesh with a slightly bitter-sweet taste and a heavy aroma.

Hor Loh (Water Gourd Durian) The flesh of the Hor Loh is very soft, dry and quite bitter. It has a sharp smell to it. Hor Loh was first cultivated at the Brown Estate of Sungai Ara. It got its name from its appearance resembling a "Hor Lor" pumpkin. If the durian hits the ground hard when it falls, the flesh tends to be bitter thereafter.

Ang Heh (Red Prawn Durian)Ang Heh originates from Pondok Upeh, Balik Pulau, and has a round-shaped husk. The orange reddish flesh is highly aromatic, very soft with a bitter-sweet taste.

Xiao Hung (Little Red Durian) Xiao Hung, whose name means "Little Red One," originates in Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau. The flesh has a bittersweet taste to it, with a touch of sourness. There are only one or two seeds per section, but the flesh is thick.

Yah Kang (Centipede Durian)Although its flesh is whitish, the taste is superb, milky, like very sweet, melting chocolate. The name "yah kang" means centipede, and accounts for the number of centipedes found at the foot of the tree, hence giving it the rather unusual name.

Bak Eu (Pork Fat Durian) Bak Eu has a slightly acidic aroma. The flesh is whitish while the taste is quite bitter but nice.

D17 is dark cream flesh. The taste is slightly dry but sweet. It is a tasty durian.

Coupling This durian gets its unusual name because it looks like two durians joined together, one big and one small. When split open, you almost thought the two halves belong to two different durians. Coupling has whitish flesh which is slightly dry but tastes good.

Ooi Kyau (Tumeric Durian)The name Ooi Kyau (tumeric) describes the colour of the bright yellow flesh of this durian. It is very sweet and tasty.

Chaer Phoy (Green Skin Durian) Chaer Phoy is shaped like a small canteloupe. The skin is bright green, giving it the name which means "green skin". Chaer Phoy has creamy white flesh which is a bit dry, not too sweet but tasty.

Ang Jin (Red Yoke Durian)As the name suggests, Ang Jin Durian has deep orange flesh. It is very sweet and tasty.

Lin Fong Jiau This durian is named after Lin Fong Jiau, aka Mrs Jackie Chan. One wonders whether it is indicative of the relationship of the celebrity couple, for Lin Fong Jiau is a bittersweet.

Jalan - jalan Cari Makan - KL Area

OK this area i must say i am not that expert, especially in real down town KL (like jalan TAR, Chow Kit, etc. areas) So any of you know some good food do share in at the comment sections.

KL

Kin Kin Chilli Pan mee - Off Jalan TAR, this one is my personal all time favorite!!! I never fails to travel from OUG to there every Sunday, as long as i am not outstation, for the past 2 years liao. Super nice Pan Mee (dry type), plus the egg, and the most important the chilli!!! Mmmmmmm yum yum. Business super good everyday, average must wait half to an hour!!! Just to know how famous they are, type Kin Kin Pan Mee in Google.com.my and search within Malaysia scope.

Yang Kee Beef Noodle (Ngau Lam Mee) - OUG / Jalan Peel, Cheras - This is a very nice beef noodle store. Business is super good. Try their dry noodle and also their signature "lor pak lam" super tender beef that melts in your mouth the moment you eat it. BEST!!!

Wong Ah Hwa (WAH) Roast chicken wing (siu kai yek) - Jalan Alor. Corner shop. nice for lots of other food but their signature is their siu kai yek. Super nice, especially eaten with chilli.

Ah Loy Curry Mee - OUG , behind the row of Yang Kee shop. Must try their curry mee. Very nice and tasty. Their sui kau (dumpling) also not bad. Morning till night.

Steven's Corner - OUG. Same row with Yang Kee. Ok, this one is a bit controversial. My recommendation is that you try their fried puyuh, kambing goreng (must try), and their naan. The rest of the food are so so. Food not cheap though, as a mamak shop.

Pork noodle (Ju Yok Fan) - OUG. Morning only, corner coffee shop, facing Setven's corner, beside the wet market. Long queue so you won't miss it. Best Ju yok fan in this area.

"Dai Chao" /Seafood - Sri Petaling, turn left after you see Sri Petaling hotel on your right, same street with The Store, but the shop not yet reach The Store. Best for fish, and other chinese dishes. Must try: Curry Wild Boar. Very nice.

Drunken Cat restaurant - Jalan Peel, Cheras. Night time. Again it is chinese dishes style. Try their seafood, it is quite nice. A lot of people as well.

D'Food Land - Bandar Manjalara, Kepong. Ok this one you need to ask around people when you get to Manjalara. It is very famous for Crab. It has 36 cooking methods for cooking crabs and all are nice !!! Must try: Cheese Crab with their special Bread Stick. The bread is so nice that you can eat it with the cheese crab sauce !!!! Don't bother to go on public holiday or Mother's/Father's Day. Too pack. Only dinner.

Ulu Yam Loh Mee - Manjalara, Kepong. Used to be in the Wai Sik Kai of Kepong, but has move to this shop lot facing a Petronas station, in front of the Kepong Mosque area. Nice Loh Mee and very famous. Try their Yam flavoured Loh Mee and you will want for more.

Loi Cha - Wai Sik Kai , Kepong. Very authentic and nice Hakka Loi Cha. Not advisable if you don't like the strong herbal and tea smell in the soup. Otherwise, this is must try for loi cha lovers.

Wai Sik Kai Kepong. Lots of nice and famous hawker food there. One of the nice one is the Prawn Mee stalls. Lots of added choice to choose (kar liew)

"Bei Ge" (a type of food looks like Kuay Teow) - At a lorong along Old Kepong road. Ok this is a bit tricky but when you are in Old Kepong road, just ask around chinese people for fried "bei ge" and they should know. Only at night, it is a old shop but this dish is rare and special and very nice, something like hailam Kuey teow is thick dark soya sauce.

Jagoya Japanese Buffet - StarHill, upstairs. Need i say more? Very ice but a bit pricey.

Hakka Restaurant - Jalan Kia Peng, KL. If you want authentic Hakka Chinese Food, go there. It happens to be my ex-colleagues' good friend who owns it. Very nice but a lot of time at night there is wedding dinner.

Alexis Bistro - Bangsar / Great Eastern Mall. Nice and tasty cake. My personal favourite - Try their Tiramisu Cake. If you like live band, then go to the one in Great Eastern Mall. It has live band perfromance at certain nights, very nice.

Strudels - Bangsar / Major shopping malls. Again good place for cakes.

Nirvana Banana Leaf - Personal favourite for their banana leave rice. Opposite Bangsar Shopping Mall 2. Try their Chicken masala, and spicy tofu. Also for vege, must ask for a lot of Fried bittergourt. Yum Yum.

Madam Kwan - Bangsar / KLCC/ Mid Valley. Must try their Nasi Bojari and also their nasi lemak. Then their Cendol for dessert.

C-Jade Express - MidValley, LG. Try their roast pork, siew yok, etc. All very nice.

Dorae Garden - Korean BBQ. Mont' Kiara. On a row of shops besides Projet Station, second floor between maybank, mamak and a vet clinic. Nicest Korean BBQ within Mont Kiara. Good service. Try their belly pork and their kimchi with pork and tofu soup. NICE!!! Mentioned Friend of Mr. Sang Soo Bae from Lafarge and you get special service...

Italian Restaurant - TTDI, KL. Row facing the main road, after the bomba station. Try their pizzas and seafood fetuchinnis, nice and cheesy. Not cheap.

Old Chang Kee Karipuff - Singapore / Major KL shopping Malls. RM1.80/RM2.00 for a Curry puff. But try it and you will know why it is that nice and worth the value. From Singapore.

"Zhu Lin" - Taiwan finger snacks - 3rd Floor, old wing, 1-U, near TGV Cinema. Must try their Deep Fried porkchop, another fries like snack, and also their oyster porridge. Very nice.

Just Thai - New Wing, LG, 1-U. If you miss your authentic Tom Yum Koong from Bangkok, then this is the right place for you. They sell authentic Tom Yum Koong (Thai Tomyum have 2 versions, the one we get normally in Malaysia is the murky Southern Thai version. Bangkok Tom Yum is the "clear" type, more spicy, and more sour). Also don't forget to order their mango with sticky rice dessert, orginally only Thai King can eats that!!!

Fresh Coconut Drink - Sg. Buloh. From Sg. Buloh towards Sri Damansara side, by the road side, near to Homelife stretch. Mountains of fresh coconut. What so special? It is very fresh, cold, and taste very nice.....different from ordinary (Note, this is not Thai Fragrant coconut). Try it at hot afternoon....ahhhhh

Claypot "Lou Xu Fan" - Petaling Street. They sell a variety of fried noodles, but the signature dish is their Lou Xu Fan. Super nice and delicious.

Air Mata Kucing - Petaling Street, corner stall near popular book store. Super pack with people. Very nice drink and cooling.

<br
